Emotional Intelligence

Intra-Active Abilities, created by Susan Frances, launched in 2005 and since then has “fingerprinted” hundreds of graduates. Gregory and Susan have joined forces to create a formidable team in running these highly successful and effective workshops. These workshops are aimed primarily at companies, but can be adapted for individuals.

What is Emotional Intelligence (EQ)?

Our fingerprints differentiate us. So does our physical appearance, our genetic heritage, how we score on an IQ test and whether we prefer a really great burgundy to a cup of tea.

Significantly, a crucial element which is often overlooked is our emotional make-up or Emotional Quotient (EQ) as it’s sometimes known.

  • How aware are we of our own feelings?
  • Can we control the impact of our feelings on others?
  • How do we perform under pressure?
  • Are we able to adapt our behaviour to a variety of situations?
  • Do we balance our own needs with those of others?
  • Can we stay on course in the face of personal challenge or criticism?
  • Do we balance short-term goals with long-term ones?
  • Do we have enough energy and drive to pursue both? Even in the face of rejection or questioning?
  • Do we take into account the perceptions of others?
  • Are we intuitive? Can we arrive at clear decisions and drive their implementation when presented with incomplete information?

Traditionally, the high IQ scorers were thought to be the star performers. Only recently have companies begun to understand just how important a role EQ plays in how effectively employees deliver.

In fact, highly effective people are those who are driven by their emotional intelligence. Not that IQ, and its associated gifts of rationality and logic, isn’t a vital and sought after attribute - it’s just not the whole person. Intelligence is often betrayed by the emotional processes quietly dominating it.

It is apparent that individuals and organisations benefit by engaging the 'whole person' in the workplace. Creativity, innovation, trust and energy are core human qualities that are now recognised as essential for effective leadership and organisational success.

Which is of course where the skilled interpretation of an individual through the Intra-Active Abilities’ program becomes beneficial.

Our workshops will help your staff understand EQ and why it is so fundamental to the ongoing development of a rich and satisfying life, both in and out of the workplace.

We have extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. So far, over 3,000 people have graduated.  Our courses are locally developed, from over 100 sources, with a 360 degree understanding of our uniquely South African dynamics.

The courses are trained by a SETA accredited facilitator and assessor. All training materials are SETA recorded and aligned with unit standards.

The successful completion of this course provides learners with nine credits towards a SAQA National Certificate in management and we also offer customisation of our courses to suit, or even tailoring a course to suit, your business requirements.
